Howard County Police Foundation holds 25th annual Police Pace 5K on 9/11

Police Pace to begin with 9/11 memorial ceremony

The Howard County Police Foundation will hold its 25th annual Howard County Police Pace 5K race and 1-mile walk and run on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. Police Pace will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and a 9/11 memorial ceremony at 8:30 a.m. followed by the race at 9:11 a.m. and an awards ceremony.

Proceeds from Police Pace will support families of Howard County officers killed or injured in the line of duty as well as provide scholarships and support the department with funding for special needs not met through the annual budget.

The event will offer 50 performance awards, food courtesy of Outback Steakhouse, children’s activities and a chance to win prizes. In addition, the Howard County Police will display police cars, motorcycles and a helicopter as well as equipment from specialty units.

Race registration for individuals costs $40 through Sept. 1 with family packages available. Registration includes entry in the race, an Under Armour event T-shirt, food and a chance to win awards and prizes. Visit www.policepace.com to register.

The Howard County Police Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1994 that aids the police department in funding and promoting programs to improve public safety and quality of life in the community.
