Man Sentenced In Rape Of 8-Year-Old: Howard County Prosecutor
A Washington, D.C., man has been sentenced in the rape of an 8-year-old, according to the Howard County Office of the State's Attorney.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 53-year-old Washington, D.C., man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison with the first 15 years served without parole for a sexual assault incident involving a young child.
According to the Howard County Office of the State's Attorney, on Nov. 18, 2022, Anthony Maurice Tarpley was convicted of 2nd-degree rape, 3rd-degree sex offense and 4th-degree sex offense by a Howard County Circuit Court jury.
On Jan. 9, 2021, Tarpley raped an 8-year-old child was was sleeping on the couch and an overnight guest of the child's grandmother, according to the Howard County Office of the State's Attorney. Tarpley was caught raping the child in the middle of the night by a family member.

A medical exam was conducted on the child and DNA evidence from Tarpley was discovered on the child’s body.
