Part of I-70 Closed for Crash Near US 29: Officials

A crash Tuesday night may cause extended lane closures on Interstate 70.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Police are investigating a crash on Interstate 70 Tuesday night that has shut down half the highway, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Just before 10 p.m., officials reported that eastbound I-70 was closed in the area of US 29 due to the crash.

State troopers were investigating the collision, which transportation officials reported involved one vehicle.

I-70 will be closed to eastbound traffic at US 29 "for an extended period of time," officials said, advising drivers to avoid the area.

The off ramp from US 29 to I-70 was closed as well after 10 p.m.
