1. Corn Fest Celebrates Howard Co. Agriculture, Highlights Popular Corn Lager (patch.com) — Ellicott City's Manor Hill farm is gearing up for its 4th annual Corn Fest, built around the limited-release 14 Acres Corn Lager brewed with corn grown right on the property. Residents can enjoy live music, multiple beer stations, local food trucks with corn-themed specials, kid-friendly treats and activities, and wide-open farm views while learning more about Maryland agriculture.
   

2. 'Once A Lion, Always A Lion': All-County Lacrosse Player, 18, Killed In Ellicott City Crash (dailyvoice.com) — An 18-year-old Howard High School graduate from nearby Elkridge died when his car left Ilchester Road in Ellicott City and hit a tree, closing the road for more than two hours. Police are still investigating what caused the crash, while the Howard lacrosse community mourns a fiercely competitive teammate remembered for his passion and impact on the field.
   

3. Retired Air National Guard Colonel Named Howard Co. Parade Grand Marshal (patch.com) — An Ellicott City resident, retired Air National Guard Col. Andrew Wolkstein, has been chosen grand marshal for the 12th annual Howard County Veterans Day Parade and Celebration. His decades of military and nursing service, plus ongoing work with American Legion Post 156, will be honored when he leads the Nov. 8 parade in downtown Columbia.
   

4. American seniors advance in Day 1 qualifying at Acro World Championships • USA Gymnastics (usagym.org) — A local gymnast from Ellicott City, competing with teammates from Columbia and Jessup, helped represent the U.S. at the Acro World Championships in Italy, where Americans advanced to finals in every category. While her trio narrowly missed the final due to a one-per-country rule, other Maryland-based teammates from Rockville and Columbia moved on after strong qualifying scores.
