Phoenix Emporium Burglarized: Ellicott City Crime

Three burglaries were reported in the past several days in Ellicott City, and a gas station was robbed at gunpoint, police said.

The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Ellicott City.

Exxon in the 4200 block of Montgomery Road was held up at gunpoint at 11:51 p.m. on Dec. 15. A man with his face covered walked into the store with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The employee complied, and the man left. The suspect was described as a thin man who was 6'2" tall, of unknown race, wearing a dark hooded jacket, dark paints, dark shoes and a dark cloth over his face.

A cash register was stolen from Leelyn’s Restaurant in the 9400 block of Old Annapolis Road at 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 14. The front door may have been left unlocked.

Authorities are investigating the following two burglaries in historic Ellicott City as possibly related:

A laptop and checks were taken from the office at Phoenix Emporium in the 8000 block of Main Street. Carpentry tools were also removed. The burglary happened overnight between Dec. 13 and 14. To get inside, the suspect(s) damaged a side door.

Tools were put into bags but left at the scene of a burglary at a vacant home in the 8300 block of Court Avenue overnight between Dec. 13 and 14. The suspect(s) forced entry through a basement door.
