Road Closures In Ellicott City For May 31, 2018

There are several roads closed due to the flood in Ellicott City. Here's where they are.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Multiple bridges and roads remain closed from the flooding in Howard County. Particularly, the closures are in Ellicott City.

Howard County officials announced the following road closures as of 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 31:

As of 10:0 a.m. this morning, May 31, the following roads/bridges are reported still closed around the county:

  • Main Street from Rogers Avenue to Oella Avenue
  • Ellicott Mills at Main Street to Fels Lane
  • Bonnie Branch at Beechwood to Ilchester
  • College Avenue at Bonnie Branch to New Cut Road
  • New Cut Road between 3962 New Cut Road and College Avenue (closed to all vehicle traffic)
  • Local traffic only between Hillsborough and 3962 New Cut Road
  • Local traffic only around Circuit Courthouse, with signs posted on Court Place at Court Avenue; Park Avenue at Court Avenue; Emory Street at Church Road; and Church Road at Sarah Lane

Howard County is under a flash flood watch from 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, to 2 a.m. on Friday, June 1. A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop leading to flash flooding, or a rapid rise in water level.

Drivers should be prepared for torrential downpours that may quickly flood streets and low-lying portions of highways and cause creeks and streams to spill beyond their banks.
