Police said a light-colored vehicle with front-end damage hit a teen in Ellicott City.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Police said the victim of a hit-and-run crash in Ellicott City remains hospitalized a week after being hit by a light-colored vehicle. The man was found on the median between east and westbound US 40, where he had been injured for about a half hour, officials reported.
Saaif Hakim, 18, of Ellicott City, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening at the time of the Aug. 29 crash.
Authorities said on Tuesday, Sept. 4, that he was listed in fair condition.

A week later, police continue looking for the mid-sized SUV or van that hit Hakim and left the scene. Officials say that the vehicle is light in color and should have significant front-end damage on the driver's side.
"Officers have reviewed security footage from nearby businesses," police said, noting none of the video caught the crash itself or gave a definitive view of the suspect's vehicle.
Anyone who was in the area between 10 and 11 p.m. or has information about the suspect vehicle is asked to notify police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.
