3 Hospitalized from Crash on Route 40: Police
One person was in serious condition after a Lexus and Ford collided in Ellicott City Thursday afternoon, Howard County police said.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Three men were hospitalized following a crash on US 40 in Ellicott City Thursday afternoon, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Andrew Long, 28, of Union Bridge, was in serious condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after the Ford van he was riding in collided with a Lexus sedan, police said.
At 2 p.m., officials reported a Lexus IS 250 was headed east on Route 40 when it collided with a Ford E-350 that was turning onto Marriottsville Road from westbound Route 40.

Lexus driver Romtin Habibi, 18, of Ellicott City, was in critical condition at shock trauma, while the driver of the Ford — Benjamin Holtzclaw, 27, of Mt. Airy— was at Sinai Hospitali with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, police reported.
Eastbound lanes of Route 40 were closed between Interstate 70 and Marriottsville Road, while westbound lanes had reopened.

Previous Report — Emergency officials say that US 40 is closed in the area of Marriottsville Road Thursday afternoon due to a crash. All lanes of Route 40, both east and westbound, were shut down, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported at 2:20 p.m.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision. One flipped and the other was on fire, according to the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, which said a medevac was responding to the scene.
