Police Chase from Howard to Baltimore County Nabs Two Armed Robbery Suspects: Officials

The alleged armed robbers may be connected to a recent holdup at the same grocery store, Howard County police reported.

Two suspects are in custody and two others are at large Wednesday after a supermarket holdup in Howard County and police pursuit into Baltimore County, officials said. The suspects may be connected to another armed robbery at the same grocery store that occurred 10 days ago, according to the Howard County Police Department.

At 6:28 a.m. on Wednesday, police said four people went into the Weis Market in the 10800 block of Birmingham Way and demanded cash from employees.

Two of the suspects were armed with handguns, according to officials.

The employees gave money to the suspects, who then left in a Nissan Altima.

Officers identified the suspect vehicle and pursued it until the car stopped on Bloomsbury Avenue and Montemar Avenue in Catonsville. The pursuit was more than 13 miles long, with multiple sources reporting it concluded with a crash.

Afterward, one of the suspects was located in a storm drain, according to ABC 2 News.

The outstanding suspects were not believed to be in the immediate area, Howard County police said.

It was the second time the market in Woodstock was held up this month. The Weis was also robbed at gunpoint on Sunday, Dec. 18.

In that robbery — which occurred at 6:37 a.m. — police said three men went into the store and showed they had guns before taking cash from several cash drawers and leaving. The suspects in that armed robbery were described as three black men wearing all dark clothing with their faces partly covered.

Police said Wednesday that authorities were looking into whether the two incidents were related.
