Baltimore County to Host Speaker Series

Speaker Series draws attention to those conditions/trauma that you think might keep youngsters from participating - but don't have to!

Heart conditions in my child?! Allergic Reactions?!! Eye Trauma?!!! And the list goes on and on...

It’s fair to say, “You DON’T want to hear about this stuff!” But let face it, as a parent and coach, you just really don’t have a choice.

This discussion is part of the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks Speaker Series and is taking place at the Sollers Point Multi-Purpose Center on Wednesday, May 11th. The topic is: “General Medical Conditions: Pearls for Parent and Coaches”. The program is being offered in partnership with the experts at Towson Sports Medicine that evening at 7 p.m.

Each scary enough to make even the strongest of caregiver the chills when contemplating participating in or when the effects of these conditions raises its ugly head when participating in activities.

How do you prepare for participation? What happens if your youngster has to deal with these conditions or as the result of participation? Should you avoid activities? Elizabeth Fioretti, LAT, ATC, of Towson Sports Medicine has the responses and suggestions that may very well put our concerns, if not at ease, at least in perspective. Every youngster should have the opportunity to grow from participation in the activities they want to enjoy; this presentation will help us determine the best way to go about getting involved; and being safe!
