City of Frederick to Join Nationwide Reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8 (cityoffrederickmd.gov) — Frederick residents are invited to City Hall on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, to join a nationwide simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence. The free, family-friendly event starts at 5:30 p.m. on the steps of Frederick City Hall, with the reading at 6 p.m., and is part of Frederick County’s broader USA250 celebrations.
   

3. Frederick County executive orders data center development pause after court ruling (thedailyrecord.com) — Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater has temporarily halted new data center applications through December 31 while the state completes a data center impact report, directly affecting future development near Adamstown and beyond. Existing approved projects, including the Quantum Frederick campus, can continue, but new proposals face added transparency requirements and upcoming community information sessions on oversight and energy use.
   

4. Office for Civil Rights Agreement Requires Frederick County Public Schools in Maryland to Review Cafeteria Restraint and Possible FAPE Denial (specialeducationaction.com) — Frederick County Public Schools has entered a federal resolution agreement after an investigation into how staff handled a disabled elementary student’s dysregulation and cafeteria restraint. OCR raised concerns about possible denial of a free appropriate public education and inadequate staff awareness of the student’s 504 plan, prompting required reviews of restraint practices and support services.
   

5. Sheriff's Office Investigating Nearly 40 Vehicle Vandalisms Across Frederick County (wfmd.com) — Nearly 40 vehicles had their windows smashed overnight in three Frederick County areas, and the Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to check any home, doorbell, or dash camera footage. Incidents hit Jefferson Technology Community, Spring Ridge Senior Living, and Oakdale Villages, with no thefts reported so far and no suspects yet identified.
