1 Dead, 1 Badly Hurt In Separate Motorcycle Crashes In MoCo: MSP
One man was killed and another was seriously hurt in two separate motorcycle accidents in Montgomery County.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — One Montgomery County resident was killed and another was seriously injured in separate motorcycle crashes last week in Maryland, according to authorities.
The first crash happened on Friday, Aug. 14 and claimed the life of a 25-year-old man from Gaithersburg. At about 1:48 p.m., Maryland State Police in Frederick County responded to northbound I-270, south of Doctor Perry Road, for a report of a motorcycle accident.
Investigators determined that the crash — which shut down multiple lanes along I-270 for about three-and-a-half hours — involved two motorcyclists doing wheelies.

One of the motorcyclists, later identified as Dan J. Stanback, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Maryland State Police. Authorities have not released the identity of the other motorcyclist, who escaped the crash with minor injuries. They say the patient was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.
The second collision took place on Friday, Aug. 16. Shortly before 11 p.m. Montgomery County fire and rescue personnel responded to Frederick Road near Comus Road for the report of a motorcycle accident.

Authorities say 22-year-old Jeremy Cross, of Silver Spring, was traveling north on Frederick Road when his motorcycle collided with a 2013 Audi A4 that was heading south. Police have identified the driver of the Audi as Natalie Weill, 26, of Gaithersburg. She was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Cross was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
