25-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed In Highway Collision
A highway crash on Interstate 270 in the Gaithersburg area proved deadly late Saturday after a motorcyclist was killed, police said.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed late Saturday in a highway collision that took place in Gaithersburg.
Montgomery County Police said the fatal incident happened just before 9:45 p.m., near the intersection of West Diamond Avenue and the Interstate 270 ramp.

The motorcyclist was identified as Roger Gustavo Pineda Cardona, of Gaithersburg.
Officials said Cardona, operating a green 2008 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle, crashed into the back of a black 2022 Toyota Camry.

The collision happened as the Toyota was making a left turn from the westbound lanes of West Diamond Avenue onto I-270.
Cardona suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Police said in a Monday update that the man who was driving the car remained at the scene. Neither he nor the two passengers in his vehicle suffered injuries, according to officials.
