2 People Injured After Car Crashes Into Church

Two people were treated for injuries after a pickup truck they were in crashed into a Gaithersburg church.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A pickup truck crashed into a church on Friday, leaving two people injured.

Authorities with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded just before 10 a.m. to the Seneca Creek Community Church at 13 Firstfield Road in Gaithersburg.

At the scene, the two injured individuals were found inside the truck. They were later hospitalized and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Photos from the scene showed the front end of the vehicle smashed in and serious structural damage to the church's exterior.

MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos said an inspector was called to the scene to determine the structural integrity of the building.

It's unclear whether anyone was inside the building when the collision unfolded, according to Pazos.

An investigation remains ongoing.
