41 Months in Prison for Man With Stolen Firearms
The Gaithersburg man reportedly planned with men from Silver Spring and Upper Marlboro to steal guns and ammunition, prosecutors said.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Gaithersburg man will spend time in prison for his role in stealing guns and ammunition, with the help of men from Silver Spring and Upper Marlboro.
Nevyou Alemu, 21, of Gaithersburg, was sentenced Wednesday to 41 months in prison for possessing stolen firearms, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in West Virginia.
Alemu conspired with Kristopher Seth Davis, 20, of Silver Spring, and Adesola Vanzant, 21, of Upper Marlboro, to steal firearms, authorities said. In April 2014, the trio traveled from Maryland to New Milton, WV, and stole about 14 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from a residence. The defendants then returned to Maryland, taking the stolen guns and ammunition across state lines.

Prosecutors say the men were discovered in April 2014 in Doddridge County, WV, in possession of two stolen firearms: a .22-caliber pistol and a 20-gauge shotgun.
Following a two-day trial, a federal judge found Alemu guilty in August 2015 of one count of conspiracy to possess stolen firearms and one count of aiding and abetting the possession of stolen firearms.
