$50,000 Scratch-Off Win Gives Gaithersburg Man Reason To Smile
A Gaithersburg man claims a $50,000 prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off game.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Montgomery County retiree saw his fun hobby – playing a Maryland Lottery scratch-off each day – pay off with a prize that will enable him to play instant tickets for many days to come. The player won a $50,000 prize on the 50x the Cash game, according to a lottery news release.
The Gaithersburg resident visits different Lottery retailers to play his daily scratch-off game. Lakeside Beer & Wine was his destination on the day Lottery luck struck. The 66-year-old bought the $10 game and scratched it off in the Gaithersburg store, which is located at 9621 Lost Knife Road.
“I got very happy,” the winner said through his nephew, who was interpreting for the native Spanish speaker. “I just smiled!”

The $50,000 prize is his biggest ever, the loyal player said. Although the native of El Salvador sometimes plays Racetrax, he said he prefers scratch-offs.
