2. School Bus Driver Pronounced Dead in Gaithersburg Crash (moderatelymoco.com) — A school bus driver died after the bus left Central Avenue near Frederick Road in Gaithersburg, struck trees and a utility pole, and is being treated as a likely medical emergency. No students were on board, but Central Avenue is closed between Poplarwood Place and Paradise Court while police investigate, and drivers are urged to use alternate routes and expect delays.
3. Triumph Trek at The Rio (popville.com) — A community walk-or-wheel event celebrating recovery is coming to Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg on Sunday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Residents can enjoy music, games, carousel rides, and reconnect with Adventist HealthCare rehab and home care teams, while fundraising supports patients facing financial hardship during recovery.
4. Five Vehicles Stolen, Runners Reportedly Chased on Capital Crescent Trail Among Incidents on August 25 Crime Report (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police report a residential burglary on Washington Grove Lane and two vehicle thefts from Chelaberry Court and Royal Bonnet Circle in the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village. The same daily summary notes additional stolen vehicles and a reported trail-chasing incident elsewhere in the county, underscoring an active day for officers on August 25.
5. Gyms Abruptly Close In Maryland After Owner Files For Bankruptcy (patch.com) — A franchise group that owns multiple F45 Training gyms has filed for bankruptcy, but its Gaithersburg studio is currently listed among the Maryland locations still open. Several other area sites, including Olney and Germantown, have already closed, so Gaithersburg members should watch for possible changes as the company restructures and decides which gyms remain viable.
