GAITHERSBURG, MD — A man was hospitalized early Thursday after being hit by a car in the Gaithersburg area, police said.
Montgomery County Police said the pedestrian crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of state Route 355 and Christopher Avenue.
At the scene, a man was found suffering from serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Police said the driver involved in the crash, who was not identified, remained at the scene.
The collision prompted authorities to temporarily close all southbound Route 355 lanes between Watkins Mill Road and Christopher Avenue. By about 7 a.m., all lanes had reopened.
An investigation into the crash remains active.
