Body Found In Gaithersburg Lake: Police
Police are investigating a possible drowning after they recovered a body in Maple Lake in Gaithersburg.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Police are investigating a possible drowning in a Gaithersburg lake after finding a a body in the water Saturday evening.
At about 5:08 p.m., officers responded to Maple Lake, near Washington Grove Lane, after a groundskeeper located personal belongings near the lake, police said. Rescue personnel found and recovered a body in the water, and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There is no indication of foul play in this death, police said. The Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore will determine the cause of death and assist in confirming the identity of this person. The Department will release this information once the Medical Examiner’s Office findings are complete.

The Department requested the assistance of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue to search the pond. Howard County Fire and Rescue, the Montgomery County Police Managed Search Operations Team, and Gaithersburg City Police officers assisted with this search.
The Department did not receive any calls regarding a person entering the water at this location and investigators have not located any potential witnesses to this possible drowning. Anyone with information about this death is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
