Free Emergency Preparedness Training Class Held On Oct. 19

Volunteers will learn about Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events training, CPR, the use of tourniquets, and family emergency planning.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Residents interested in learning basic emergency response skills can take a training class at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Academy in Gaithersburg on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The county's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, police department, and fire and rescue services will hold the free emergency preparedness class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Personnel will teach volunteers about Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training, CPR, the use of tourniquets, and family emergency planning. Officials say the class may not be suitable for people under 18 years old.
