Gaithersburg Lifeguard Saves Drowning Child: Report

A lifeguard saved a boy from drowning at a Gaithersburg community swimming pool on Monday.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A lifeguard is being hailed a hero after saving a drowning child at Stonebridge Community Pool on Monday, according to multiple news outlets.

The Gaithersburg lifeguard initially thought the little boy was retrieving something from the bottom of the pool. But when he didn't come back up quick enough, the employee sprung into action, NBC4 Washington reported.

Authorities who later arrived at the community swimming pool told the outlet that the 18-year-old pulled the child out of the water and performed CPR.
