GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Gaithersburg man is now $50,000 richer thanks to a recent lottery ticket win.
The lucky player, who dubbed himself "Alexander Maldonado," was getting gas at an Exxon station one evening in March when he heard the retailer say: "No one has won today, so it could be you, my friend!" According to Maryland lottery officials, Maldonado bought two of the $5 Hot Riches scratch-off tickets. One of those tickets was worth $50,000.
"I freaked out when I saw that it was a winner, man," Maldonado told lottery officials. "Even the retailer was extremely excited for me."
