Gaithersburg Newspaper Town Courier Suspending Publication

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Town Courier — a newspaper that covers the Kentlands, Quince Orchard Park, and Washingtonian Woods communities in Gaithersburg — is "suspending publication to reorganize," the editor wrote in a post.

It is unclear why the media outlet is reorganizing, but the editor thanked local business owners, the city, and readers for their support.

On Facebook, readers asked The Town Courier what they could do to keep the newspaper afloat.

"Would it help to subscribe? Happy to do so," one reader said.

"Whatever I can do to help, just let me know," another said.

The news comes as hundreds of local papers across the country struggle to pursue digital subscription models and offset advertising revenue declines.

Montgomery County Sentinel and Prince George's Sentinel — two weekly newspapers with a reliable and steady presence in the Washington capital region — went out of business in January.
