The Joint Exhibition 'Spring · Shine' Opened at CCACC Art Gallery

Montgomery County Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Marilyn Balcombe were also in attendance.

The joint exhibition 'Spring · Shine' by artists Pearl Shen and Quanxuan Shuai held its opening reception on March 8 at CCACC Art Gallery, attracting numerous art enthusiasts. Montgomery County Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Marilyn Balcombe were also in attendance.

Before the reception began, Pearl Shen gave a special demonstration on the process of creating a Chinese gongbi painting. Her lively and insightful presentation sparked great interest in Chinese gongbi painting among the attendees.

At 2:00 PM, Rita S. Lewi (Executive Director of CCACC and Director of the CCACC Art Gallery), delivered the opening remarks, welcoming guests and introducing the two featured artists. Lewi noted that the exhibition showcases over 40 artworks that blend Eastern and Western painting styles. Shen's gongbi paintings are exquisitely detailed and remarkably refined. In addition to her gongbi works, the exhibition also features an Impressionist oil painting by Shen titled Godspeed. Shuai's floral still-life paintings, on the other hand, skillfully play with perspective. His backgrounds incorporate directional lines combined with Impressionist short strokes, creating a sense of movement and enhancing the emotional depth of his compositions.
