Jouvence Aveda donates over $6,000 to the Global Green Grant funds

Jouvence Aveda, which boasts a location in Rockville Town Square, raised $6,158 for Aveda’s Global Green Grant funds, which helps to provide clean water in over 80 countries. To raise the money, Aveda donated 100 percent of profits made from their “Light the Way” candles, which retail for $12, as well as holding raffles and taking straight donations.

The money raised by Jouvence’s three locations – Rockville Town Square, Arlington, Va., and Reston, Va. – was presented at Catwalk for Water, a fashion show in Washington, D.C., on May 10. Aveda corporate puts on the fashion show to promote clean water awareness. All models in the show wear clothes made completely from recycled materials.

“The Catwalk for Water is just one of the ways that Aveda and Jouvence contributed this year,” said Claire Bengur, an Aveda Purefessional. “It’s a yearly ‘trashion’ show that Aveda salons in our region participate in to celebrate and raise money for Earth Month.”

All proceeds from the event are donated to WaterAid, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people around the world gain access to clean water, as well as basic sanitation and hygiene education.

Gianne Nascimento, a stylist at Jouvence Aveda’s Rockville Town Square location, took home the award for Best Hair and Makeup. She received a $250 gift certificate to attend any class in the Aveda Educational network.

“This event was important to me because the salon and I had the opportunity to participate in something that was going to help thousands of women and children,” said Nascimento.

Since 1999, the Aveda Network has raised more than $44 million to help support organizations that directly affect environmental change. Of that money, $38 million has supported projects that protect clean water in homes across the world since 2007.
