KinderCare Worker Charged With Sex Abuse Of 3-Year-Old Girl In Gaithersburg: Police

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Montgomery Village man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl who attended the KinderCare Learning Center in Gaithersburg. Investigators are releasing this information in order to determine if any other juveniles were victimized by him.

Raul Teroy Tuban, 56, worked as a cook and a driver at the childcare center at 1800 Sioux Ln., police said. In November 2016, detectives received information that Tuban had inappropriate sexual contact with the victim while she was at KinderCare.

Investigation revealed that on October 22, 2016, the victim was taking a nap and awoke to find Tuban touching her, police said. Later that day, the victim told a family member about the incident.

During a police interview, Tuban provided detectives with inconsistent statements regarding the inappropriate contact with the victim, police said. After what police called a "lengthy and complex investigation," detectives obtained a warrant for Tuban’s arrest.

On July 14, police arrested Tuban at his home on the strength of the arrest warrant. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond, police said.

Detectives are requesting that parents of juveniles who attend/attended the KinderCare Learning Center talk to their children about their interactions with Tuban and contact SVID detectives at 240-773-5400 if they believe their child was victimized.
