LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER IS PROUD TO HELP OUR VETS
Paul Davis Restoration of Gaithersburg Gives Back While Cleaning Up

Yesterday was a special day for local business owner Tom Plant. Because of the way he has positioned his business he gets to do something he really loves which is serve as Chairman of the Advisory Board for a non-profit called Operation Second Chance. “This is a wonderful organization that helps hundreds of wounded soldiers recover from serious injuries suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Plant says. “In business I help those recovering from disaster, why not give back to those who have kept us out of it?” Plant adds.
In 1988, Tom Plant opened Paul Davis in Gaithersburg, MD covering Montgomery, Frederick and Washington Counties as well as the northern portion of Prince George County. Today, Plant has two offices along with warehouse space that spans 34,000 square feet. The location also has 35 company vehicles to accommodate their ever-growing clientele.
Paul Davis is a franchise organization that provides services to cleanup and repair damage to residential and commercial properties due to water, fire, mold, storm or other disasters. They also offer reconstruction services, household & textile cleaning, trauma & biohazard cleanup and remodeling.

“I was working in a related field selling construction materials when I came across Paul Davis and just saw a great opportunity and a future where I could build my own business. I decided very quickly that I wanted to give it a shot,” says Plant. “I loved the idea of a business whose underlying cause is to help people in need as well as the fact that it was not tied to any economic cycles. If the economy is bad people might cut back on going out to dinner but if you need our services you really need them and you likely have insurance for them,” adds Plant.
Between 2006 and 2012 during the worst economic recession since the Great Depression Plant doubled his business. “I have a team of truly dedicated and experienced people who I count on to manage the business. “We’ve performed emergency services at the US Supreme Court, high-security government buildings, bio-medical facilities, universities, hospitals, nursing homes and the list goes on,” says Plant. “We’ve also won national and regional awards on some very complicated residential projects, both remodeling and insurance restoration.”

“We continue to grow and diversify so that we serve many different customers in both residential and commercial markets,” says Plant. “Over the next five years I’d ideally like to be doing $25 million in sales,” adds Plant.
