Man Buys Over $6K Worth Of Items On Stolen Credit Cards: Police
Police need the public's help finding a man they say burglarized a home and used stolen credit cards to go on a shopping spree.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Police on Thursday released a photo and surveillance footage of a burglary suspect who used stolen credit cards to buy more than $6,000 worth of merchandise. Authorities hope that the public can help identify the individual.
The home burglary happened in the 9200 block of Clematis Court in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, December 11. Police said the homeowners woke up around 5 a.m. to find their garage and vehicles have been burglarized. The suspect escaped with property from the vehicles, including the female homeowner's purse, which contained credit cards.
Officials believe that the suspect got into the locked garage by reaching through the dog door.

"Pry marks were located on the frame of the door leading from the garage to the home, indicative of the suspect attempting to gain entry to the interior of the home," police said in a press statement."
According to authorities, the suspect used the homeowner's credit cards at gas stations, a fast food restaurant, and big-box stores located in Ellicott City, Baltimore, Catonsville, Hanover, Mt. Airy, and Arbutus. In a span of four hours, the individual charged more than $6,000 worth of merchandise to the stolen cards.

The Montgomery County Police Department published a video — embedded at the bottom of this post — that shows the suspect using the victim's credit cards.
Police ask that anyone with information about this suspect or burglary call 240-773-6237. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
