MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Halloween is right around the corner and there are plenty of things to do in Montgomery County beyond traditional trick-or-treating. We have a list of events being put on by the county, the cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg, and other groups around MOCO.

If you do decide to go trick-or-treating, the county has some suggestions on how to keep it as safe as possible.

Here are some events around the county. Please check event listings (linked below) before attending to confirm if you need to register in advance and for any time changes.

Friday, Oct. 29

Truck or Treat ! Honk, Wave and Truck a Sweet Treat Experience!
4 p.m.
1235 Potomac Valley Road, Rockville, MD

The Potomac Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and Continuum Healthcare Network's parking lot will be transformed into a Halloween destination for anyone who wants a more limited contact version of trick or treating. There will be curbside treats, Halloween-themed music, and scary storytelling.

Halloween at the Mystery Mansion of Chevy Chase
(also on Saturday, Oct. 30) from 5 to 9 p.m.

There will be a haunted house, bonfire bash, pumpkin patch and costume shop. It says it is suitable for younger children, and kids older than 10 can try a spookier experience, if they dare.

Saturday, Oct. 30

Floating Pumpkin Patch
Eunice Kennedy and Sargent Shriver Aquatic Center, 5900 Executive Boulevard., North Bethesda, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Swim Center, 1201 Jackson Road, Silver Spring

Children ages 2 to 12 are invited to swim with pumpkins, pick one out, and then decorate it. The swimming will be open until noon and the decorating will go until 12:30 p.m. Swimming with pumpkins will be available until noon and decorating will be available until 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. Gwendolyn Coffield Fall Family Festival
(outside parking lot), 2450 Lyttonsville Road, Silver Spring

Dress up in costume for the chance to win a prize, or just enjoy the games and dance party. There will be decorated cars, and you can vote for the best. Runs from 3 to 6 p.m.

Clara Barton Neighborhood Recreation Center Haunted House
7425 MacArthur Boulevard, Cabin John

The haunted path will lead you around inside, where witches and zombies will try to scare you. Other activities will be outside, and kids will get small gifts.
