(Updated) Phone Service Restored At Gaithersburg Police Department

(Updated at 1:08 p.m.) GAITHERSBURG, MD — A phone outage Wednesday morning lasted several hours, but service was restored to the Gaithersburg Police Department about 1 p.m., the department said on Twitter. Gaithersburg residents were asked to dial a different phone number to reach the police department during the interruption.

During the outage, residents who tried to reach the Gaithersburg Police Department were told to call 301-258-6401. For emergencies call 911.

This is a developing story. There is not yet information on what caused the outage.
