Police Investigate Shots Fired In Downtown Crown Neighborhood

Authorities are investigating after shots were fired in Gaithersburg Monday night.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery County police are investigating after shots were fired in Gaithersburg's downtown Crown neighborhood Monday night.

Authorities say they received multiple calls for the sounds of shots fired in the mixed-use development around 10 p.m.

Officers responded to the area and found three spent shell cases in the 300 block of Baldwin St., police said.

No injuries or damage were reported.

"During this investigation, detectives have spoken with homeowners whose video surveillance audio captured the sound of gunshots," police said. "Detectives have also obtained home video surveillance that captures a vehicle driving in the area around the time of the gunshots. At this time, investigators do not have any evidence to indicate that the vehicle is involved in the incident."

Detectives are asking homeowners and businesses to review their surveillance camera footage and report any suspicious activity to them. Anyone with additional information should call 240-773-5570. Anonymous tipsters can also call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). The group is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
