Safeway Is Hiring In Montgomery County During Coronavirus Crisis
Safeway said it has approximately 1,000 immediate openings at locations in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Delaware.

ROCKVILLE, MD — While the coronavirus outbreak has caused widespread job losses as Maryland shops, entertainment venues, and gyms close their doors, other sectors are stepping up hiring due to increased demand caused by the crisis.
Safeway said Wednesday that it has approximately 1,000 immediate openings at locations in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Delaware. Opportunities include positions in deli, bakery, produce, customer service, and fuel stations.
"Grocery stores are the cornerstone of the community and are deemed an essential service. If your job has been impacted by COVID-19, we are offering permanent or temporary employment that can help bridge the gap," said Tom Lofland, Safeway Eastern Division president.
