Suspect Confesses He Ran Down Man After Fight: Police
A Germantown man is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly hitting a Clarksburg man with his car.

A Germantown man who has reportedly confessed that he intentionally ran down a man after an argument in Clarksburg is in jail a murder charge.
Montgomery County Police have charged Ryan Anthony Salandy, 22, of Amber Ridge Circle in Germantown, with first-degree murder in the death of William Dean McDaniel, 21, of the 23000 block of Sweetspire Drive.
On Friday, at about 12:21 p.m., police were called to the 23000 block of Sweetspire Drive in Clarksburg for the report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Officers found located McDaniel dead in the roadway. The driver of the striking vehicle had fled from the scene.

About 30 minutes later, police received a tip that the driver and the vehicle involved in the pedestrian collision were at a residence on Amber Ridge Circle in the Milestone area of Germantown. Officers went to that address and located the vehicle and its driver, identified as Salandy.
Detectives interviewed witnesses, as well as Salandy, and learned that he and McDaniel were involved in an altercation on Sweetspire Drive Friday. Salandy initially drove away from the argument but circled back to Sweetspire Drive, where he told reportedly told police he struck McDaniel with his 2006 Saab and then left the scene.

Salandy, who is charged with one count of first-degree murder, is being held without bond. A bond review is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in Rockville.
