Teen Charged With Second-Degree Attempted Murder

A teenager is facing second-degree attempted murder, among other charges, in a stabbing incident that took place outside of a Wawa.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A Gaithersburg teenager is facing several charges after being involved in a stabbing incident outside of a Wawa convenience store.

The 17-year-old boy, who is being charged as an adult, is facing second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and a dangerous weapon with intent. He has not been identified.

The Gaithersburg Police Department said in a Tuesday release that the teenager was arrested by detectives Monday at about 9 p.m.

Charges were issued in the case hours after officers responded to the 400 block of S. Frederick Avenue just after 11:30 a.m. for reports of a stabbing.

At the scene, officers found two boys suffering from lacerations. They were both hospitalized with critical but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials have not yet detailed what caused the incident. It's also unknown whether the second individual involved in the case will be facing any charges.
