Virtual Smoke Alarm Checks Available During Coronavirus Pandemic
Virtual smoke detector check-ups are available to Montgomery County residents during the coronavirus pandemic.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service is offering virtual smoke alarm check-ups during the coronavirus pandemic.
"It's the next best thing to seeing you in person," MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer tweeted.
Fire officials recommend that people change the batteries in their smoke detector twice a year. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years (check if your device has a date of manufacture label).
