Wegmans Theft Suspect Caught on Camera: Police

Montgomery County Police say the man lifted a wallet at the Germantown Wegmans, and did the same thing in Fairfax County and Leesburg, VA.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Police on Tuesday released surveillance images of a man suspected of stealing a wallet from a shopper at the Germantown Wegmans grocery store, and similar thefts in several Virginia suburbs.

Montgomery County Police are asking the public for help identifying a man suspected of an April 24 theft from the Wegmans grocery store at 20600 Seneca Meadows Parkway.

About 1:15 p.m., a woman shopping in Wegmans reported her wallet was stolen from her purse. The victim’s credit card was later used at the nearby Target store.

Detectives obtained a surveillance photograph of the suspect from the Target.

Investigators believe this suspect committed a similar offense at the same Wegmans on March 2, 2015. Detectives also believe the thief committed similar offenses in Fairfax County and Leesburg, VA, and Frederick, MD.
