Man Dies After Gunshot Wound to Head: Police (Update)

A man died from a gunshot wound to the head in the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg, authorities said.

Montgomery County Police initially said the shooting victim was a woman, then amended their release to say that during medical treatment it was determined the victim was male.

Police Spokesperson Rick Goodale said the call was reported at 5:49 p.m. Thursday.

Goodale said officers found the victim at the scene. He described the victim as alert and conscious. Montgomery Community Media reports he was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

About 9:30 p.m. police said the victim had died.

There has been no information about possible suspects, a motive, or the victim’s identity.
