Woman Killed When Car Strikes Utility Pole

Authorities are trying to determine what caused vehicle to go off the road a Sunday morning in the Ashton area, killing the driver.

Montgomery County Police and Fire and Rescue personnel were called about 8 a.m. to the 300 block of Olney-Sandy Spring Road (Route 108) for a single-vehicle collision.

Investigators say a 2006 Honda CRV was westbound on Route 108 when it left the road and struck a utility pole. The sole occupant of the vehicle, Ioanna Kaskasian, 41, of the 18900 block of Bloomfield Road in Olney, was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

This collision remains under investigation. Anyone who believes they saw the collision is asked to call police at 240-773-6620.
