Woman Steals Purse After Getting Into Argument On Bus: Police

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a woman they say robbed a fellow bus passenger in Gaithersburg earlier this month.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery County police are asking for the public's help in finding a woman they say robbed a fellow Ride On bus passenger earlier this month.

The incident happened in Gaithersburg on the evening of Jan. 9.

According to authorities, the victim — a 43-year-old female — and the suspect got into an argument while riding the bus. When the victim got off the bus at the intersection of Contour Road and Tunstall Drive, the suspect followed her. Police say she then assaulted the woman, stole her purse, and fled on foot.

On Tuesday, police released surveillance photos of the suspect in hopes that the public can help identify her.

Anyone with information about this suspect or robbery should call detectives at 240-773-5770. Anonymous tipsters can also call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
