Police Identify Teen Killed In Germantown Parking Lot Shooting

One person was killed and three others were injured after a shooting in Germantown Tuesday. Police do not believe this was a random event.

GERMANTOWN, MD β€” One person is dead and three others are wounded after a shooting in a Germantown parking lot Tuesday evening, police said.

Around 9:15 p.m., Montgomery County Police received a call about a shooting involving four people in the 18700 block of Curry Powder Lane. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male and a juvenile suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities say they were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two additional adult male victims left the scene in an attempt to find a hospital, police said. One of them was not seriously hurt.

The other man, however, died from his injuries. Police have identified the victim as 18-year-old Tray Dawkins, of Germantown.

A preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the four victims were standing in the parking lot when at least one unknown suspect began shooting at the group. Authorities say the suspect or suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

It is unclear why the group was attacked. However, detectives do not believe this was a random event.

Detectives urge anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
