Homicide Victim's Name Released In Germantown Shootings That Injured Three

A man died and three people were hurt when shots were fired at a Germantown house near Great Seneca Creek Elementary School, police say.

GERMANTOWN, MD — The name of a man killed when four people were shots early Saturday morning at a house near Great Seneca Creek Elementary School in Germantown has been released by Montgomery County Police. Authorities say the victim who died is Amaru Amir Santos Johnson, 19, of the 12100 block of Birdseye Terrace in Germantown.

Investigators have released no information on what may have led to the shootings or how many suspects they area seeking.

A 911 call made about 12:55 a.m. reported a shooting had just occurred inside a residence in the 12800 block of Kitchen House Way. Police found two men and two women at the home suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Johnson was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The three other victims were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services told WTOP a fifth person was taken from the scene to a hospital for a fall. The circumstances of the fall and the extent of the victim’s injuries are unclear.

Police ask anyone with information about the shootings to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. To share tips anonymously, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
