Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said the two deceased adults were initially found by relatives who were carrying out a welfare check at the residence.

At the scene, officials also detected "very high levels" of carbon monoxide in the home. Firefighters had found a car running in the garage.

Piringer said both adults "likely" died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Officials have not identified either of the two adults pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Hazardous teams assisted in ventilating the home.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
