Credit Card Scammers Sentenced
U.S. Attorney's office: Cards were lifted from cars in Germantown, Boyds and Bethesda.

The ringleader of a credit card scam was sentenced Thursday to five and a half years in prison, plus three years supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Larry Angel Jerez, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow for access device fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft in connection with a credit card scheme involving victims in Bethesda, Boyds and Germantown, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a press release.
The stolen cards were used to buy merchandise at retail stores in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area; Jerez was ordered to pay $29,602.78 restitution.

According to the release — citing Jerez ‘s plea agreement and court documents — Jerez and co-conspirators David Thompson, Darvis Dingle, Julia Abreu and Mohammad Sallah stole credit cards from 2007 to October 2009.
Thompson, 31, of Germantown, and Dingle, age 48, of Washington, D.C., were sentenced to 42 months in prison, according to the release.

Sallah, 55, of Montgomery Village, to 27 months in prison, followed by seven months of home detention; Abreu, 36, of Tucker, Ga., was sentenced to five months and a day in prison followed by seven months of home detention.
