MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A U.S. Postal Service truck caught on fire Thursday afternoon in Germantown, reports the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.
Firefighters told WUSA the mail truck is a total loss after a mechanical issue apparently caused it to burst into flames. Firefighters were called to the scene at 14200 Seneca Road near Darnestown Road. The truck caught fire near the back of a home. No residents were in the house at the time of the vehicle fire.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the fire was "quickly extinguished while firefighters were battling the 90-degree heat with temperatures feeling close to 100 degrees," he told WUSA.
