Hoggle Murder Trial Rescheduled Weeks Before October Start
Catherine Hoggle's murder trial for the 2014 disappearance of her two children has been pushed to fall 2027.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The murder trial of a Montgomery County woman accused of killing her two children won't take place until at least 2027.
Catherine Hoggle, 39, is facing two murder charges in connection with the disappearance of 3-year-old Sarah Hoggle and 2-year-old Jacob Hoggle.
Both children have been missing since 2014.

Court records show that Hoggle's trial, which was expected to begin Oct. 19, was rescheduled after a status hearing on Wednesday.
The trial is now set to get underway between Oct. 4, 2027, and Nov. 8, 2027.

The trial change comes after Hoggle's defense team previously said she would plead not criminally responsible in the case, WTOP News reported at the time.
New murder charges were filed against Hoggle in August 2025 after she was released from a psychiatric facility.
Hoggle had previously been found incompetent to stand trial due to her history of schizophrenia. However, a judge declared her competent to stand trial in December 2025.
