MoCo Artist Shines Bright On Oscars Stage
Rei Ami, a Germantown native, landed in the Oscars' limelight Sunday, making up one-third of the musical trio who sing "Golden."

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Sarah Lee, who was born in Seoul but grew up in Germantown after moving to the U.S. as a young child, won big Sunday at the Academy Awards.
Lee is better known as musician Rei Ami.
Ami is both a Northwest High School alumna and a graduate of the University of Maryland.

She also happens to make up one-third of the trio behind the hit song "Golden" from Netflix's animated film"KPop Demon Hunters."

The film made Oscars history after taking home the awards for best animated feature and, of course, best song."Golden" is the first K-pop song to win the award.

Nearly six years ago, Lee sat down for an interview with The Diamondback, the student newspaper for the University of Maryland.
She explained at the time that her stage name is pulled from the popular anime "Sailor Moon." Bot Rei and Ami are central figures in the series.
