Attempted Murder Charge Looms for Alleged Cabbie Stabber

Warrant issued for Dereck Keith Ingram II on charges of second-degree murder, armed robbery

Attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery charges are pending against a Germantown man accused of stabbing a taxi driver in Silver Spring.

Dereck Keith Ingram II, 29, of the 12000 Hickory Way, was arrested on charges that he threatened a taxi driver with a knife on May 17 during a ride from Rockville Metro Station to an unknown address in Silver Spring, Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Angela Cruz said.

Police allege that somewhere within the 2700 block of Fenimore Drive in Silver Spring, the taxi driver was assaulted during a scuffle with Ingram, who left the scene.

Cruz said Ingram was in police custody for an unrelated incident when he was arrested for the alleged taxi stabbing.

A warrant was issued against Ingram on charges of second-degree attempted murder, assault charges and armed robbery, court records show.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 15.
