Police Need Help Solving Germantown Homicide Case

Police are having trouble solving a homicide case in Germantown. One detective says people aren't coming forward.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery County Police are asking for the public's help identifying the person who shot and killed a teenager in a Germantown parking lot earlier this year.

Authorities say the incident happened on April 16 in the 18700 block of Curry Powder Lane. At about 9 p.m., a vehicle pulled up to the parking lot and a suspect opened fire at a group of people standing nearby.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male and a juvenile suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Two additional adult male victims left the scene in an attempt to find a hospital, police said. One of them was not seriously hurt.

More than three months after the shooting, detectives say they are having trouble solving this case.

"Despite the fact that several people were present during the time of the shooting — to include those directly in the group that (were), as well as neighbors in that community — we've had very little assistance in the form of leads or help from the community solving this case," Detective Mike Kwarciany said.

Police urge anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).
