Thief Steals Packages From Two Germantown Homes: Police

Police need the public's help finding a thief who stole packages from two homes in Germantown.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A porch package thief who stole from two homes in Germantown was captured on the residents' security cameras, which Montgomery County Police have released in hopes that the public can help identify the suspect.

Police said the incidents happened on Wheatridge Drive within an hour of each other on Tuesday, Dec. 4. They also said it's likely that the thief has stolen other packages in the area.

The first house the porch pirate targeted was in the 17900 block of Wheatridge Drive around 4:50 p.m. Police said the suspect walked to the front door, looked at the packages, and left the property. About 15 minutes later, the thief returned to the home and stole three packages.

The second incident took place at approximately 5:22 p.m. in the 18000 block of Wheatridge Drive. Police said the suspect stole a package and left in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle.

The Montgomery County Police Department published the video — embedded at the bottom of this post — that shows the suspect stealing a package.

Authorities ask that anyone who recognizes this suspect call 240-773-6263. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
