Runaway Dog Found In Germantown, 130 Miles Away From Home, 4 Months Later
D.C. United Player Dominic Duncan found the family's beloved dog in Germantown.
GERMANTOWN, MD — A devastated dog-owner thought her beloved Pomeranian was never to be found after she reported him missing four months ago from her home in Richmond, Virginia. That all changed when Sharee Brown got a call from Quince Orchard Animal Hospital in Gaithersburg, stating they had her dog Areli.
According to Montgomery Community Media, Brown let Areli out for a walk the day he went missing. She said he would sometimes walk himself and would come back, but that day he never returned.
Somehow, little Areli trekked about 130 miles before he ended up in Montgomery County. In a bizarre twist of events, D.C. United Player Dominic Duncan found Areli running across a street in Germantown.

Duncan said he waited with the dog to see if his owner would show up, and eventually took Areli home for the night when no one came.
“I finally got him in my car to take him home,” Duncan said. “I took him for the night, he slept under my bed, I gave him a walk in the morning and now we’re here.”

Duncan said his dad told him to take Areli to the vet to see if he had a chip in him.
“I’m so excited,” Brown told Montgomery Community Media. “I adopted him when I adopted my niece when she was six months old. She’s six years old now and we love him.”
Brown and her niece drove all the way to Gaithersburg to happily reunite with Areli.
